Menu time again already?
Yes, I suppose it really is. It just seems like it's too soon because 1. I got off schedule and order groceries on Tuesdays lately instead of Thursdays and 2. Because I did not post last week's menus until late in the week. (Thanks for the reminder Josie). So now I am trying to figure out this issue. My current plan (and it's subject to change without notice) is to do a half order for Tuesday morning and another half order (the other half) on Thursday morning. This because I

Uncomfortable
Ever have one of those days? Well, I'm having one of those mornings. Hopefully it will only be the morning part of the day. I am grouchy, irritable, grumpy. I am angry with myself. I did stupid stuff. Doing stupid stuff is not a new thing with me, so I know I will get over it. Eventually. It's the getting from here to there that can be a struggle. I have had it with myself. LOL. I know how ludicrous that sounds, but that pretty much sums it up. I have shortcomings. Doesn't e

Can stuff spill out of your brain?
I am wondering if stuff can actually leak out of your brain. Not actual brain matter. Not physical material. Information type stuff. My mind is so full of 'stuff', ideas, thoughts, dreams, things, and lists, that I have started to forget other things. So I am wondering if I have hit capacity and in order to continue entertaining all the notions in my brain, it starts dumping 'stuff' out the other side. I have mental lists of things I want to do. And it's not just chores or pr

Monday is Kitchen Day
It’s always windy in a sports arena. All those fans. Yup, as you know because I have said so many times, Monday is kitchen day. I clean the kitchen on Mondays and I always start early on that. I clean as I go. If I use the microwave then I clean it. If I use the counter top I clean it. If I use a glass I clean it. etc. But this Monday I have other stuff I want to get to. First, I need to sew. I have not lost any weight (sad face) but my body has changed shape and this means

What the heck is a tin fish?
Is this a fish made out of tin? A decoration? A Yard Thing? I heard this expression on a news cast the other morning that was talking about what I thought was health. (?) So I perked up and started paying attention but I guess I had missed the pertinent stuff already. This led me to have to do a web-search. The answer was quick and concise: Tin fish refers to seafood that is preserved and packaged in metal cans, commonly including varieties like tuna, sardines, and mackerel.

Pulling Double Duty
I think I mentioned (no, I know I did) that I somehow got way off schedule again. In order to get back to my chart I need to go one step at a time so I do not get overwhelmed. So I am doing double duty to try to move in that direction. Normally I clean the upstairs bathroom, and spot clean the upstairs on Tuesdays, but in order to make up for not doing that yesterday, I had to do that this morning. I will still need to do all the stuff I usually do on Wednesdays. Which is a b

Menus, Recipe, and Unavailable
It's a little frustrating when you plan a week's worth of meals and order groceries specifically for those meals and then get a text message telling you an item is unavailable and that item is essential to one of your meals. Example: One of the meals planned for this week is 7-layer Nachos. The base for this meal are the 'lightly salted' tortilla chips. It was this item that was 'unavailable'. Argggggg. Well, anywho, here is this week's dinners menu: Thai Peanut Chicken Cass

Star Light Dreams
I have some of the most delightful dreams sometimes. (I have some of the others, too, of course). I dream about riding a Unicorn through a field of wildflowers. I dream about riding a Pegasus through fluffy clouds of cotton candy. I dream of transforming from my current self into a flowing being of light, of energy, of rainbows. Then I swirl and twirl like a gentle tornado from place to place leaving a trail of sparkly, glittery, happy dust in my wake. I call those my "Light"

Weather Whiplash and Other Things
The weather is all over the place here where Iive. 80 degrees (F) in March? Yes, it did that. Then turns around and decides it should drop to near freezing at night. Right now it's only 33 degrees (F). No, really. I tried to be smart and not stick sensitive things in the ground yet or in my bucket garden dirt. I did plant pea seeds and carrot seeds, but then, they rather like having a bit of cool before their season starts. I did plant gladiola bulbs. Bulbs have to have time

Just making stuff up
I have no explanation as to why I am making up recipes recently when I have plenty of recipes for plenty of dishes of all kinds. Just some weird urge to try different things I think. I am guessing it has something to do with Spring. You know how you want to spruce things up in the house, maybe do some spring-cleaning when the nicer weather hits? Maybe that is caused by the rays of sunshine coming in the windows and lighting up all the dust on things you couldn't see before.

White Bean and Kale Soup with Chicken
First, here's the recipe. (I hate those recipe blogs where they have tons of pics and go on and on about the ordeal of cooking it first and save the actual recipe for way down the page after many scrolling's, so not doing that here.) Ingredients: 2 TB EVOO [Extra Virgin Olive Oil] 1 can White Meat Chicken, not drained (12.5 oz can) 1 medium onion, chopped 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes 3/4 tsp coriander 1/2 tsp cumin 1/2 tsp rosemary 2 cans white beans, (15.

When you hit that 'I am old enough' age.....
When you graduate high school, you might be thinking to yourself, now I can move into my own place and start 'adulting'. Maybe you have waited until you have graduated college. Maybe you just feel like you are ready to 'get out there' on your own. Here's a checklist for you to use to determine if you are really ready for that. Moving Out Readiness Checklist (Ages 18–19 +) Financial Readiness Do I have a steady, reliable source of income? Can I cover rent + utilities + food +

It was two years ago when I posted this: It has been quite the journey. I'm still taking classes on nutrition and adjusting my diet as I go along. I have joined groups and communities for a short time to learn more and to glean information about real life experiences from real people, not paid people on commercial ads. I admit I have really learned a lot but there seems to be so much more needed yet. The first thing I gave up was any and all carbonated beverages. That was a b

Family, not just people
Original post was on Jan 21 2023. I have a large family, but it seems we are spread out from one end of the country to the other with pockets of us dropped here and there. (Edited to read: extended family.) For me, family isn't just people and it isn't only those born from the same parents. It's a very inclusive group with pets playing an important role. I'm posting a picture of our two little guys (long-haired chihuahuas). One really looks more like a Papillion than a Chihua

Recalls - So many!
From radioactive shrimp to vodka seltzer in energy drink cans, food and beverage recalls have made headlines throughout 2025 and into 2026—and the headlines are often pretty concerning. To end the year, there was a massive recall for hundreds of foods kept at a Gold Star Distribution storage unit in Minneapolis (think: Arizona iced teas, Dole products, Haribo candies, and Kellogg’s cereals) because of contamination from rodent urine, bird feces, and salmonella. It’s not just

WOW !
I have been having trouble getting my hands on artichoke hearts. I have tried multiple times and they just are not available. This is a canned good so it surprised me. I ended up doing a web search about this problem and was stunned to learn that we (we meaning the whole world) is in a huge food crisis right now. There was Cyclone Harry that caused a lot of problems over there in Italy, which I had not even heard about. And many of the artichokes we get come from there. The s

New Topic
This is a new topic for me to post about here. I do not remember ever approaching 'finance' in a general way. Sure I post about budgeting for groceries and how to feed your face and still keep a rug under your feet, but I haven't really talked about how to establish a budget or how to deal with finances. I get it that things are in turmoil right now with inflation, prices way up and trying to keep up with the rising rents. So how does a person just starting out, get started?

This week's recipe from the menu
This recipe is for me, a winter recipe because it asks for the use of the oven, which I never use in the summertime. It can be modified to be done on top the stove if you want to go ahead and make it in the summer. This week's menu has a couple of oven recipes, this is one of them. I will try to get in one recipe per week per the menu for that week from now forward. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for asking. Tuscan, White Bean Artichoke over Polenta Ingredients: 2 TB EVOO 1

Amor Vincit Omnia
I debated with myself about which website to post this and decided on this one. Amor vincit omnia (Love conquers all) How I wish this turned out to be true. It certainly did not turn out that way for me, not in any circumstance. (Not in my marriage, not with my children, not with friendships). I wanted very much to be able to call myself a Christian. This, to me, meant following the teachings and commands of the Christ. Jesus clearly said in Matthew to 'turn the other cheek'
