We are on FIRE

I do not mean that in the sense of "wow, watch me blog the internet to a standstill". I mean in the more literal sense of "oh my heavens, the Northwest portion of the USA is burning down".

The smoke has been awful, in the unhealthy or hazardous zones for days and days. The fires are just raging due to all the dry stuff. There has been a drought they say, which has dried everything out pretty bad and so the danger of fire is really high.

They say the fire is jumping natural barriers because it's burning at the top of the trees instead of near the ground, so it is able to jump over rivers and trenches, etc.

That's just really scary.

Global warming is not a 'theory'. It is a reality. And it is destroying the planet.

The USA is not the only place that's burning up.

Europe has had to evacuate people in France, Portugal and Spain, as I understand it. And Canada has been battling wildfires all summer long.

We are now in big trouble.

I have hope though. I believe in the power of people to rise up and find ways to help. I hear that many of the scientists that were 'fired' by the current administration have teamed up together and formed their own organization to continue their work. YAY.

As they quietly fired every member of the independent board that governs the National Science Foundation, triggering huge concerns across the board, these professionals saw that they needed to rise up, and they did.

Fired But Fighting is a network of former CDC professionals, including scientists, communicators, policy analysts, public health experts, who are standing together to demand transparency, accountability, and justice.

I see a future of progress towards green energy, towards reviving nature, and leaning in to facts instead of rhetoric.

This is the future I choose.

I got a new pen that can write under water.

It can write other words too.
