Seasoning Recipe

The point to making your own seasonings is to avoid the salt and sodium that is put into the premade mixes. Sometimes there is also anti-caking or coloring additives in the premade mixes. I know that corn starch is often included from reading the ingredients on the packets.

Nothing wrong with corn starch, just it's another thing that maybe does not need to be in there. That's up to you.

For the butter chicken seasoning packet, there is maltodextrin added. Actually, the first two ingredients are Salt - then Sugar meaning those are the two ingredients there is most of in the mix. That's not a good thing for me.

Here's a snapshot of the ingredients on the label of a packet. As you can see they also put chili's in there making it quite spicy. I do not care for "heat", I just want good taste.

So I definitely make my own.

So here is the recipe for the Butter Chicken Seasoning:

1 Tablespoon Onion Flakes

2 teaspoons Garlic Powder

2 teaspoons Paprika (I use smoky paprika)

1 teaspoon Black Pepper

1 teaspoon Thyme

1 teaspoon crushed Rosemary

1 teaspoon Parsley Flakes

1/8 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes (adjust to your taste)

Mix it all together really well in small container.

Use in the Butter Chicken recipe.

Why did the cowboy adopt a wiener dog?

He wanted to get a long little doggie.
