Opened a can of Worms, I did

No, not literally and no, I do not eat worms. It's an expression meaning I should never have started this, said that, went there, etc.

What did I do? I decided (in my campaign to downsize and clear out) to start making room in my office closet for those things I plan to hang onto and use more than what is already in there.

Oh my goodness. What have I done? I am struggling big time to find things to get rid of out of there. I have many hobbies and I have supplies in there for those hobbies, along with made products as a result of those hobbies. Now the stuff that I have already made I can donate but the supplies? I cannot. There are things in there that I only use occasionally but....(but)....I do still use them. Geez. I think I may need one of those hoarder therapists to come do it for me. They do it for you, right? So that when you go look for a something and discover it is no longer there you have someone you can kick in the shins? Right?

Arggggg.

Subscriptions. I have magazines that I like and used to subscribe to whenever they'd send me a notice to re-subscribe. Magazines like Psychology Today, the Smithsonian, Discovery, Reader's Digest, Better Homes and Gardens, Woman's Day, etc. Well I am currently not subscribing to any of them.

First I had to claim fraud on my credit card because Reader's Digest decided to charge my card with an outrageous amount. This caused me to have to get a whole new credit card, creating chaos in changing out the numbers everywhere. Grrrrrr.... then they had the audacity to send me one of those notices offering their mag for $20 for 2 years worth.

Makes me really mad at them.

Second, I had to throw away a whole bunch of magazines (and am still tossing them as I work up the steel) and that just really bugged me to do that. (I know I have mentioned this before). Having done that turned me off to ordering more, paying for them, only getting to read half of one and then having to toss it.

I would donate them to the thrift store but they toss most of them. I would donate them to the library but I never go there anymore. So toss them. What a waste!

And that right there is one of my biggest problems....waste.

I grew up having times where we were quite poor and then had adult times where I was seriously in poverty. That coupled with being raised by folks who went through the depression put me in a mindset that says --save everything. Conserve. Be frugal. Reuse, recycle, remake, remodel. <sigh>

The struggle is real.

I'm having fits over the cost of things. Insurance, whether it's property insurance, health insurance, or auto insurance, it's all quite out of hand. Then there is the taxes --oh my -- don't get me started.

I'm not in a bad mood. Don't get me wrong. I am just overwhelmed with all of the above. I'll get through it all because I know how to get through it. One little step at a time. Baby steps.

Here's wishing you a great week ahead filled with good news and smiles.

What did the duck say when she bought lipstick?

Put it on my bill.
