Do you memorize all those things?

I memorized my social security number. I memorized my own phone number. I memorized my home address and zip code. I memorized my car's license plate number.

I did not memorize my bank account number. I did not memorize my driver's license number. I did not memorize my paypal number.

There sure is a lot more things I did not commit to memory than things I did. I am not sure anymore what I should train my brain to recall on demand.

There's all these phone numbers - I use an address book for phone numbers and addresses.

There's all these passwords and sign in name handles. That takes up a bunch of brain space.

As a person gets older they might start worrying about their memory as they go about their daily business because the brain may do regular 'brain dumps' to make memory access easier.

You may not realize there are four different kinds of memory operating in different areas of the brain.

1. Sensory Memory: The First Step in Information Processing

2. Short-Term Memory: The Brief Holding Ground

3. Working Memory: The Mental Workspace with Limits

4. Long-Term Memory: The Ultimate Goal of Learning

Recently I heard that people are indulging in a practice called "brain dumping". I learned about this when taking psychology classes.

Brain dumping is a technique where you write down all your thoughts, ideas, and worries in a short, focused session, usually lasting 5 to 10 minutes. This process helps clear your mind, reduce stress, and improve focus by organizing your thoughts on paper.

Supposedly this process clears your mind, gets rid of information that is superfluous freeing up forward space for those all important things that you need to memorize.

This sounds like I am talking about a computer instead of a human mind. I get that. And it is similar in a way.

Anywho, what I am trying to do is to determine what is most important for me to memorize and then just keep those things in the front of my mind for easy and quick recall and stash the rest somewhere in the back files.

What would you say are the most important bits of information to keep at hand?

Why does Humpty Dumpty love autumn?

Because he always has a great fall.
