It's been quite awhile

Adam and Eve were the first ones to ignore the Apple terms and conditions.

I have talked about this before but it's been a long while so I am going to talk about it again.

I have new stuff to add to it.

I participate in a learning program put on by the Ardmore Institute of Health. The program is called "Full Plate Living". It is a free program and you can learn a lot about nutrition and cooking from this program. I joined a long time ago and I'm still participating. It's very much worth the time.

One thing they talked about and encouraged in this program (one of many things I should say) is to practice what is called "Hara Hachi Bu". Hara hachi bu is a Japanese philosophy of stopping eating when you're 80% full.

They explained that it's a really healthy way to help yourself not overeat and it surely works well for the Japanese that practice it.

I was all for it but I could not figure out how to tell if I was 80% full. When I asked, they explained that the feeling comes before you feel full and well before you feel 'stuffed'.

I still could not tell when I was at 80%.

Recently I figured out a way to sort of follow this idea on terms that my brain and my tummy can understand. I thought I would share it with you in case you have trouble with this, too.

Whether it's a meal or it's a snack or a grab and go, eat just enough to 'take the edge off'. Do not eat until you are hungry.

In other words, don't eat just because the clock says it is lunchtime. Wait until you feel hungry.

Then eat just enough to take the edge off, to where you aren't having that feeling of hunger anymore. You might still be wanting more - and you should be still wanting more, but you have taken the 'edge' off, so stop there.

Come back to the snack or the meal when you start to feel hungry again.

Also, I have decided to eat only half of my dinner each evening. Then, instead of having a dessert or a snack after swimming I will come back and eat the other half of my meal.

This way, I am still taking in the whole dinner, but only the dinner and not extras.

I am trying to figure out ways to follow the two rules. (These are my own rules).

Rule 1: Eat less.

Rule 2: Move more.

These two rules assume that when you eat, you are eating good food. These two rules also assume that you are already moving for at least 5 minutes after each meal.

If you are interested in participating in the program called Full Plate Living, here is their web address. Remember, it's totally free. https://www.fullplateliving.org

As well, if you have questions for me or want to request a recipe just email me at:

I know I haven't talked about books or tv shows in a while and thanks for bringing that up. I will do that tomorrow. Yes, I will.

Why was Cinderella dropped from the soccer team?

She kept running away from the ball.

[maybe cheezy but still, it made ya smile]
