I am missing a Day!

Ok. Did I get abducted by aliens? How is it that I am missing a day?

Since switching internet providers I have not been able to get my printer to work. My computer recognizes it, says that it is ready to print, shows it in the green but when you click on "print" nothing happens. And my Roku has stopped working as well. Frustrating.

(Told you I would end up whining. <sigh>)

In order to cut back to a slimmer budget I stopped doing menus and was trying to use up things on hand and only order just the day to day basics. It didn't make hardly any difference in the budget though. I am pretty conservative already. So for a week's worth of groceries that includes incidentals (meaning household stuff, not just food items) I spend about $75. USD. That's if I plan out the menus.

So I am back to planning ahead and here are the menus for this week:

White Bean and Kale soup, with muffins on the side. I chose blueberry streusel muffins.

Lentil meatballs with Awesome Sauce and Cherry Almond Gorgonzola Salad, with half of a roll on the side.

Lemon Dill Brazed Salmon, Air-Fryer Fries, and Country Coleslaw for the Friday Fish Fest.

(Saturday and Sunday are leftover days).

Bok Choy and Pearls and the other half of the rolls.

Sesame Chicken on Cous Cous and the rest of the Salad above.

I have a combined Birthday party coming up this weekend and so I will be eating all kinds of 'cheats'. I know. Naughty.

I think that it's good to be naughty now and then, not too much or too often. I have found the reality of nutrition is that dieting does not cause you to lose weight unless it is extreme and extremes are never good for you. Dieting causes you to be healthy - choosing good foods, (foods that are good for you) and keeping to the actual portions of those foods. It is movement that keeps your weight in check. Again, it need not be extreme. Simple movement. In other words, move more than not. What do I mean by that? I mean let movement happen more than sitting or resting. Anyway, I sound like I am getting a little preachy but I don't mean it that way. I am just expressing what I learned for my own benefit.

Science has shown that mild movement after eating also keeps blood sugars in check. And that is something I pay close attention to these days.

You know, if you do not have time to cook, or you just do not like to cook, you can get nearly all the items on my menus premade from Walmart. The salads are about $4 and feed four people, or two people twice. Cous cous is super simple to make, it comes down to just boiling water really. Sesame chicken is easy found in the frozen aisle where they have the Orange Chicken and other pre-mades.

So - switching topics, I am still watching Supernatural in the evenings, but now I am watching the 10th Kingdom during the day. Also watching Dead Like Me interspersed in there. Just finished watching the 3 episode series called The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns starring Randy Quaid. Cute show. Throw Countdown in there in between stuff weekly.

So - back to trying to get my devices working (the printer and the roku). Have a super weekend, ya'll.
