The thing about getting older - -

See, the thing is, no one tells you a lot of stuff about how it's going to be. As far as I know there has not been a book written about it to let you know about all the little foibles that are to come or might come about.
I have figured out why that is the case. It's not because each person is individual and so what happens to you might be different. No, that's not it. It's because they have no advice to give you on how to prevent it or fix it or even how to live with it. And I use the word 'live' purposefully.
So why write a book telling you about all the ughs to come if you have nothing to offer up in the way of prevention that is practical and useful? Exactly. So they don't.
Take my word for it when I tell you there is a long list of unexpected things that you will find unusual when they suddenly appear for you!!
So this week's menu (which I finally put together and got the groceries ordered) are rather marked as *optional because I am up in the air about a couple ideas.
The first one is :
Cabbage and Sausage. This is green cabbage wedges using only 3/4 of the head of cabbage and chicken apple sausage, which is healthier for you than the other kinds but still not passing muster with YUKA.
Salmon and Red Slaw. Using the other 1/4 of the cabbage head I will be shredding down that portion and soaking it in the juice of a can of pickled beets. The beets will be added to the slaw (salad). The salmon is going to be very lemony with dill. And there will likely be baked potatoes as well.
Butternut quinoa with chicken. I will be using frozen butternut squash and a buttery sauce.
Keep in mind these menus will probably not go in this order. It always depends on my energy level, my mood, and my taste buds on that day.
I hope you find it helpful to get these ideas for your own kitchen.
